Angry Birds Coloring Pages

Coloring table
Today is my son's Angry Birds birthday party, and I'm taking care of some loose ends. I decided I needed a couple of activities to keep kids busy while waiting for others to arrive or during any possible down times that might occur during the party. One activity will be a "Toss Across" game I altered to go with my Angry Birds theme, and the other will be a table laid out with Angry Birds coloring pages.

Photo Journal (06/18/11 - 06/24/11)

My son's Angry Birds birthday party is tomorrow! My daughter seems to be equally enthusiastic about the party planning process and has made me a few check lists. I am thankful for this journal as it forces me to be mindful of the present instead of living completely for this party.

Crown Gift Tag

Crown Gift Tag

This week my daughter will attend a Princess Spa Party, so I had an idea to make a crown gift tag to attach to the little girl's gift.

Angry Birds Garland

Decorating for our Angry Birds party was fun! I had several bunches of helium-filled gold balloons, Angry Birds lanterns hanging around the room, and angry birds and pigs hanging in garlands zig-zagging across our ceiling. The garlands were inspired by a simple colorful circle and string garland I had seen ten years ago at a cocktail party I attended. I've been wanting to make one ever since, so I was pretty jazzed at the idea of adapting the design to fit the theme of our party.

Today's Haiku

She cuddled with me.
Then I heard her sweetly hum
Darth Vader's theme song.

Creative Spotlight : Natsumi Hayashi

I ran across a little blurb about another creative Photographer today: Natsumi Hayashi. In her photographs, Hayashi captures photos of herself "levitating" in various places around Tokyo by jumping at just the right moment. The idea may seem simple but she is quoted as saying,

"Sometimes I need to jump more than 300 times to get the perfect shot"

Check out the fruits of her labor at Yawayowa Camera Woman Diary!

Angry Birds Party Hats

While planning my son's Angry Birds themed party, one of the first ideas I had was to create Angry Birds party hats. I had a vision in my head of little kids running around my yard with birds on their heads... This is what I came up with.

Photo Journal (06/11/11 - 06/17/11)

This week I've been a little preoccupied with the planning of my son's birthday party.  We're going Angry Birds crazy around here! I look forward to sharing more of the finished product in the future!

Creative Spotlight : Irina Werning

I read an article today about the creative Photographer Irina Werning. Werning, an artist from Argentina, has been traveling the world recreating old photos for her project "Back To The Future."

I love this project! Werning asks for volunteers from around the globe to find photos of themselves from the past, then she photographs these volunteers in the clothing, poses, and settings that are as close to the original photo as possible. On her website, Werning states,

"this project made me realise Im a bit obsessive..."

Check out  Irina Werning's "Back To The Future" to see if you agree!

Honey Bee Poster

My son and I had a fun time working on a school science project together. His assignment was to create something visual to present to his class that would teach the other kids about a particular insect. The Honey Bee was his choice, and he wanted to make a poster; most kids were making posters and he wanted to make one, too. This was an extremely quick and imperfect creative project, mostly because my son had to do a lot of work on this himself and lets face it, first graders don't have that long of an attention span.

This was our finished result:

Angry Birds Mini Notebooks

The Angry Birds mini notebooks I created as party favors for my son's Angry Birds party were extremely simple and easy to make.

Photo Journal (06/04/11 - 06/10/11)

You might notice I went overly creative with my son's "Honey Bee" project. You might also notice my daughter went overly creative with my art studio chair. Guess it runs in the family.

Photo Journal (05/28/11 - 06/03/11)

Ran into another problem this week: how do I keep my phone charged when I go camping? This whole idea is foreign to me since I honestly don't even like to talk on the phone. Here I am, Miss "Don't Call Me," and I'm using my phone like crazy. Hopefully I figure something out before our next camping trip.
