Fremont Solstice Parade

Summer Solstice in the Seattle area isn't complete without a stop in Fremont for the Solstice Fair and Parade. For some reason, we always have trouble fitting it into our schedule, so it was a treat this year for us to find the day open for going to the parade.

There were plenty of interactive walking art pieces,...

lots of painted bodies,...

armies of vividly-colored, happy people,...

amazing hand-made puppets,...

and even a few Stormtroopers!

We even enjoyed getting up close to the Fremont Bridge as it raised and lowered for oncoming ships.

As long as you don't mind a little bit of nakedness, Fremont Solstice Parade is a fun expression of art that shouldn't be missed! We can't wait to go again in the future!

Fees: None. Parking can be tough, though, so you may pay for that.
What to bring: a blanket or chairs to sit on, water and snacks
Length of parade: 2-3 hours, depending on the year
