Pacific Beach State Park was the first place we took our kids camping. We had such a good time that we decided to come back again in the future and to make our campsite reservation early enough that we could get a site next to the beach. This year we finally followed through!

We enjoyed our trip to Honolulu so much!
Seriously. If I didn't love the Seattle area so much, I think we'd move there!
Now that life has settled down a bit, I wanted to share a few other jewels we encountered during our adventures.
- We found a good selection of typical Hawaiian souvenirs at the International Market Place in Waikīkī. There are beautiful water features and trees here as well, so definitely check it out if you are nearby!

We saw a small sign for Nu'uanu Pali Lookout on the road to Kailua. And although we didn't know anything about it, we decided to drop by on our way back to Honolulu. I'm so glad we did!

Before going to Hawaii, we decided that a fun way for us to share some of Hawaii's culture with our kids was to go to a luau. Based on its reviews and its proximity to Honolulu, we decided on the Paradise Cove Luau in Kapolei. We're so glad we did!

In 1994, I went to Hanauma Bay for my first experience snorkeling. Nine years later, I found myself in the unique position of introducing my husband and kids to their first snorkeling in the exact same place. And Hanauma Bay State Park didn't disappoint!
We went early to avoid the crowds. Our purchased tickets gave us an assigned time to view the required introductory film. The film basically goes over safety rules, history, and information about the marine life in the park and ongoing conservation efforts.

Before our trip to Hanauma Bay State Park, we wanted to make sure we visited Waikīkī Aquarium. Waikīkī Aquarium is a wonderful place to allow kids the opportunity to learn about some of the marine life they might see while snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, and about the fragile ecosystem that lies beneath its waters.

I love hiking, and when I found out we were vacationing on Oahu, one of the first things I did was search for hikes around Honolulu. Koko Head was the hike that intrigued me the most, so when we found we had a free morning, we decided to give it a go.
