Nuʻuanu Pali State Park

We saw a small sign for Nu'uanu Pali Lookout on the road to Kailua. And although we didn't know anything about it, we decided to drop by on our way back to Honolulu. I'm so glad we did!

When we entered the park, we were greeted by a couple of chickens wandering around a large parking area. Apparently, the view is so good, it attracts semi-flightless birds. Who knew?

And it's true: the view is pretty darn amazing! It's windy up there, though, so you might want to hold onto your hat!

Nu'uanu Pali was the site of an important battle in Hawaiian history. Definitely read any signs you run into if you want to learn more!

Keep your eyes peeled, as well, for wildlife sneaking around. I totally passed this little guy on the way in and was so tickled to see him on the way out that I think I took about twenty pictures of him.

Such a quick stop, but definitely worth it if you are heading between Honolulu and Kailua!

Fees: None. parking is free
Distance from Honolulu: about 7 miles (15 minutes)
