Wings of Karen 5k Bra Dash

My son decided to participate in the Wings of Karen 5k Bra Dash with his soccer club. Money raised by the run goes to help fund Breast Cancer research in the Seattle area. And part of the fun of running the Bra Dash is that participants are encouraged to wear a bra and then hang it on a line after the race.

Now, my son wasn't comfortable with the idea of wearing a bra, so he decided he'd have his mom join him on the run and wear one for him.

Yes, that would be me.

I said sure, as long as I got to design and decorate the bra myself.

He said, "Deal."

When I asked my friends and family for donations, I also asked for any names of women who have suffered from Breast Cancer. Women who fought against it, have beaten it, are still fighting it,... or were lost to soon to it. And I added each woman's name to a paper crane and hand-sewed each crane to my bra.

I wore their names proudly.

And we made it to the end.

Let's end Breast Cancer.
