The main reason we came to the San Diego area was to visit LEGOLAND California. We're a family of LEGO lovers, so we were eager to get inside and enjoy this ultimate celebration of all things LEGO!
One benefit of staying at LEGOLAND Hotel was that we had early entrance to the park and had an opportunity to enjoy a few rides with no or super short lines.
But LEGOLAND was pretty empty mid December on a weekday. We had a chance to take our time through the park, soaking in all of the LEGO details and riding some of the rides multiple times.
The giant LEGO displays were inspiring. Both of my kids looked at all of the builds carefully, taking mental notes to take with them into their LEGO building at home.
And the rides were fun! I think the park is aimed at younger kids, aged 3 to 9, but my kids (9 and 11) still had fun. There were opportunities to get wet, to spin, and there were some thrilling little roller coasters. It was the perfect park for my ultra cautious son, who was proud to say that, by the end of the day, he had tried every ride once.
I think my kids appreciated the heart of the park. They really let their "geek flag" wave and dove head first into the over-the-top LEGO fantasy aspect of everything.
And all of the holiday touches were delightful! LEGO Santa, LEGO Christmas trees and play in the snow. So much fun!
We had such a good time! I'm so glad we made it down to LEGOLAND California before our kids grew too old to appreciate it. I don't think my kids will ever forget their walk through LEGO paradise!
