Silver Strand State Beach

We are a beach-loving family! Unfortunately since we live near Seattle, we only get about five months of decent weather to get outside and comfortably enjoy the area's beaches. When we decided to vacation in San Diego, we knew we needed at least one day at the beach. Silver Strand State Beach gave us exactly what we needed!

We had most of Silver Strand to ourselves. Travelling midweek in the middle of December has its perks! The weather was probably too cool for the locals, but we found the temperatures quite comfortable.

These guys also found the spot comfortable. Definitely hide your food when they're around!

We perched ourselves on top of the berm and played in the sand with the rhythmic crashing of the waves washing over us. Not too shabby!

My husband even managed to get his kite flying for a bit! Needless to say, we were all in our happy place!

If you love the beach as much as I do, you should definitely visit Silver Strand State Beach -- you won't be sorry!

Parking Fees: $2 (0-1 hours), $4 (0-2 hours), $8 (all day); rates may go to $10 during peak times
What to bring: sand toys, sunscreen, towels, bathing suits, boogie boards, kites, food, etc.
